Of course, you’re thinking…”What do you mean, ‘Remember To Breathe’? Isn’t that just automatic in humans?” Yes, we are all breathing from the moment we are born until we pass away. But, what is the quality of those breaths? Are we constantly doing shallow chest breathing or are we doing deep, diagaphramic breathing into our belly? The difference is astounding.
When we are doing “chest breathing” we are usually anxious, stressed, and sometimes short of breath. When we do “diagaphramic breathing” we are calmer, relaxed (we’re not holding our shoulders up around our ears), and we are usually happier.
This coming week we are going to be interviewing Human Behavorist and Body Language Expert, Mark Edgar Stephens on the power and importance of the correct way to breathe. Mark will share with us how he has seen peoples lives begin to change (for the better) once they change their breathing habits. It will be a great interview.
Mark is also the author of the inspirational book, “Who Are You Choosing To Be?” You can read his blog here. If you would like to know more about Mark and his work you can vist his website at http://www.markedgarstephens.com/ You can also follow Mark on Twitter @MarkEStephens

Hi Gary!
It is interesting how our breathing can change even our mood!
I am looking forward to reading that interview!

Thank you for this very important reminder and the link to Mar Edgar Stephens. I know that when I am having trouble sleeping, if I remember to do the breathing routines that my biofeedback doctor taught me, I am off to sleep in a flash!

I find myself holding my breath when I’m stressed and that’s the worst thing to do. Even though I learned diaphragmatic in band many years ago, I’ve gotten into sloppy habits. Thanks for the reminder.
Gary,
very important article. We never think about how our body keeps us alive without any participation of the conscious mind. Is it possible to train the subconscious mind to maintain deeper breathing? I think yes, through a lot of repetitions. It has to become our second nature. I have practiced pranayama. It is very powerful and opens the portal through the unmanifested.
Thank you.
Breathing. The most important to life! You can live a week or so without food, a few days without water and only a few minutes without air!
