Have Your Salad On The Go

Tuesday, April 26th, 2011

Over the few days I have had a bunch of people tell me that it is just too hard for them to eat healthy and include SO many “greens” in their meals, diets, and lifestyles.  It is always easy to make excuses when you are being challenged with making a change…or as Ringo Starr sang, “It Don’t Come Easy”.  Making dietary changes doesn’t have to be as hard as we think.  Now you can have your “salad on the go”.

What is a “salad on the go”?  Supreme Greens.  Supreme Greens contains 39 Vegetables, Herbs, Grasses, Sprouts, and MSM.  By mixing one teaspoon of Supreme Greens into 16 ounces of water you are helping moving your body, health, and diet up the scale towards alkalinity and away from acidity.

Foods That Alkalize Your Body

Wednesday, April 20th, 2011

Here is a list of foods that will help increase your alkalinity and boost the pH level in your body.

  • Alfalfa Grass
  • Almonds
  • Asparagus
  • Avocado
  • Barely Grass
  • Beet
  • Brazil Nuts
  • Brussel Sprouts
  • Carrots
  • Cauliflower
  • Celery
  • Cucumber
  • Green Cabbage
  • Leeks
  • Lettuce
  • Olive Oil
  • Peas
  • Red Radish
  • Spinach
  • Wheat Grass
  • Zucchini

Think of the plate that you are getting ready to have your meal on as a pie chart.  Divide this “pie chart” into a 70/30 ratio.  If 70% of your “pie chart” contains foods listed from the group above you are now moving towards alkalinity and away from acidity.  Simply making this one small change to your diet can greatly increase your pH level.

How You Can Start Alkalizing Your Body Today

Friday, April 15th, 2011

It has been great to see in some of the comments for our blog that readers are very aware pH balance.  A few even commented on how they only drink HIGH pH water.  I think this is great.  In the last few years there has been a noticeable change in the bottled water market.  The next time you are at your grocery store take a very close look at the bottled water section.  You will notice a that a fair number of companies now advertise on their labels the pH level of their water.  Some companies take great pride in their high level of pH.  These are the waters that you want to purchase (if you drink and purchase bottled water).  Look for labels that have a pH of 7.5 or higher.

If you don’t like bottled water or if you just want to save money you can make your own Alkalizing water at home.  It is extremely simple.  First make sure that your water is filtered as much as possible (if you are getting your water straight from the tap).  A very simple and inexpensive way to filter your water is by using a Brita Pitcher Filter System.  Brita makes one of the quickest and easiest products to filter your water.  You can find out more about Brita and their products at www.Brita.com.  I would also encourage you to use Google or Ebay and search for coupons to save even more on purchasing a new Brita system or on buying additional filters.

After you have filtered your water simply add a dash of baking soda to your water.  Again, this is an extremely simple and affordable way to alkalize your water at home.  This is a simple step that you can easily incorporate into your daily routine to move your health towards alkalinity and away from acidity.

The Acid – Alkaline PH Scale

Sunday, April 10th, 2011

The Acid - Alkaline PH Scale

As you can see from the chart above the PH Scale is read from left to right with a PH rating of 0 – 1 being purely acidic (something akin to eating a hole through metal).  On the other end of the scale is a rating of 14 which represents pure alkalinity (these would include items like baking soda and lye).  In the center is 7 which represents neutral.

In a perfect state your blood wants to be more alkaline than acidic.  Just as the average healthy body premature for a human is 98.6F – the ideal (healthy) PH level for the human body is between 7.3 – 7.4.

In his groundbreaking book, “Sick and Tired”, Dr. Robert O. Young chronicled how the proper PH balance provides for a “healthy inner terrain” and how the improper PH balance can lead to illness and disease.

Over the next few days I will offer simple examples of foods and drinks that will help you move towards alkalinity and I will also share with you foods and drinks that create an acidic environment.  I will also show you simple methods that you can use to test your own PH levels.

Remember, health is a journey…it is not a destination.
